About Us

Who We Are

The Clunes Landcare & Waterways Group was initially formed in May 2010 as a committee of management to revegetate and manage the Creswick creek running through Clunes, from the ford to the Government Bridge. In 2011 we became involved in the flood recovery process with the Hepburn Shire.  One of our most visible projects has been the rehabilitation and reinstatement of the creek walk between the football ground and the ford at the bottom of Camp Street.

The group participates in the Upper Loddon and Avoca Landcare Network. Affiliation to the broader Landcare network allows the group to participate in wider activities and opens up additional funding options. It brings the opportunity to learn from and contribute towards the work of the Landcare movement and draw on the strength of its established organisation and governance.

How Landcare Groups Work

Landcare unites communities for positive change. Landcare is a local volunteer movement that involves thousands of Victorians in more than 700 groups working together to care for the future of our land, biodiversity and waterways.  The Landcare movement began in Victoria in 1986 and has grown to focus on sustainable management of natural resources, encompassing individuals and groups from coastal, urban and remote areas of Victoria.

Anyone can join – retirees, students, urbanites, farmers and families can be directly involved.

Landcare’s people are its greatest asset. Its strength comes from the inspiring contributions made by passionate local individuals who make up the movement. Their sense of stewardship, enduring commitment and deep appreciation for our natural environment is why Landcare exists today.

Get Involved

The simple way to get involved is to join the Clunes Landcare & Waterways Group! The group is a fantastic source of information and discussion on a range of local land management topics. Our Landcare activities occur on public land, with the opportunity for community members to work together and extend benefits to all involved, as well as the local environment.

Our events and working bees are a fun, social day out with likeminded people, sharing knowledge and experience whilst making a positive difference to the local environment.

Members of the Clunes Landcare & Waterways Group receive regular updates on Landcare activities and events in the surrounding district, the quarterly “Victorian Landcare” magazine and can participate in other activities across the region.  You will help identify priorities for the group.
